We’re looking for a dedicated and experienced Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner to join our Complex Care Services and Supported Living teams across Birmingham and the West Midlands.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a PBS Practitioner, you’ll take the lead in developing and implementing evidence-based behavioural strategies that promote independence, wellbeing, and positive change.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking referral assessments to support operational colleagues

  • Working collaboratively with internal and external professionals, including psychologists, psychiatrists, ICBs, and social workers

  • Developing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs) through direct and indirect assessments

  • Reviewing PBSPs and monitoring their effectiveness using positive data tracking

  • Supporting transition programmes for individuals moving into new homes

  • Promoting Restraint Reduction Training Standards and reducing restrictive practices

  • Encouraging understanding of behaviour functions and alternative communication methods

  • Analysing outcome data related to distress or behaviour events

  • Delivering CPD sessions and workshops to staff teams

  • Supporting co-production by involving individuals in their own care planning

  • Providing practice leadership and on-shift support when needed

  • Working toward or maintaining CPI Safety Intervention Instructor certification

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a professional who shares our values of compassion, respect, and empowerment.

You’ll need to have:

  • Experience supporting people using PBS frameworks

  • A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle

  • Willingness to travel regularly across the region

  • Strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and Applied Behaviour Analysis

  • Experience conducting behavioural assessments and implementing interventions

  • Proven success in reducing restrictive practices

  • Experience delivering PBS training to staff teams

  • Excellent communication, report writing, and documentation skills

  • Sound understanding of the Mental Capacity Act (2005), DOLS, safeguarding, and risk management

  • A person-centred approach with integrity, resilience, and creativity

Qualifications:
You’ll hold (or be working towards) a recognised qualification such as:

  • BSc in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

  • MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis

  • MA/MSc in Autism Studies

  • PBS Graduate Diploma

  • PBS BTEC Level 5 (Advanced Professional Diploma)
